Employees and volunteers want professional development, but not necessarily the top job. Clarity and transparency can help them find their way. For a long time, I was pretty skeptical of those bumper stickers that say, “Not all who wander are lost.” Thanks to a strict Midwestern upbringing, I was certain that not knowing your direction was an error, especially if the direction you weren’t going in was up.

There's a common trope that young professionals are averse to traditional association events and conferences. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. The reality is that 20-somethings are more than willing to participate in these events; they simply want them to align with their expectations and values. Several witnesses tell officials that they could see flames shooting out from a nearby window air-conditioning unit and after that, the condo was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews were able to pull a 59-year-old woman from the condo. She was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.

For the past year, community association attorneys have been discussing the impact of the CTA (Corporate Transparency Act). Much of the discussion has been on whether the Act does or does not apply to homeowner and condominium associations. As the effective date of the law is January 1, 2024 (with first reports being due no later than January 1, 2025), the need for clear answers has become more pressing.
