Membership Sales Is About More Than Just Increasing Membership Numbers

Eric Lanke

We focus a lot on membership sales in my association. This year perhaps more than at any time in recent memory because we have identified increasing our membership numbers as our Wildly Important Goal for the year. In true 4DX fashion, we're trying to engage the whole organization in a concentrated effort on identifying membership leads and recruiting them in as members.

Association Email is Dying

Smooth The Path

Email is ridiculously important to the health of our association because at most associations email is by far the most used channel to communicate with our members. But email is in trouble! I am not going to address deliverability (although that is a problem). We are not going to talk all the new filters that purposely block and sort association mass emails into spam folders (that’s a problem too).

3 Creative Ways Associations and Nonprofits Can Use Volunteer Management Tools

Higher Logic

Associations and nonprofits are always trying to make more of an impact with less – less money, less staff, less resources. It’s made them some of the more creative and efficient organizations we’ve ever seen. But there’s still one piece of software you may not be using at full capacity: your volunteer management platform. Volunteer tools are standard for associations and nonprofits, and they can be used for much more than just standard volunteer tasks.

Don’t Attend the Old School of Strategic Planning

World Class Boards

Strategic planning is a standard exercise at many, if not most, associations/nonprofit organizations. So much so that many smart people mindlessly use it as a prescription for all organizational ills: “Having problems, eh? Do you have a strategic plan? If you do, when was the last time you looked at it?” — as if the only reason why an organization is struggling is because it doesn’t have a strategic plan or isn’t using it.

Recognition Powers High-Performance — If You Do it Right

Speaker: Radhika Samant and Todd Wuestenberg

Employee recognition has often been deemed a "feel-good" initiative, tied closely to rewards. While we understand its importance, we tend to associate recognition with intangible outcomes like engagement and sentiment, rather than direct impacts on retention and high performance. In today’s workplace, the true ROI of recognition lies in its ability to regenerate tangible, business-driven results.
