Re-Solving and Resolutions

Idea Architects

With the new year on our doorstep, conversations naturally turn to resolutions and whether or not you're making any. Resolution is a word that has always intrigued me. You can make a resolution just as many are doing for the new year. You can come to a resolution for a challenge or problem that has vexed you. And in reality that's what many of the resolutions people make attempt to do: resolve some aspect of their individual or organizational life they hope to bring to a different conclusion.

The term ‘member engagement’ is often bandied about in the association world. More of it is considered better yet we rarely state what that actually means. I thought I would put a stake in the ground with my definition of it in the work I do with clients. Member engagement is the result of a member investing time and/or money with the association in exchange for value.

Despite bottles of disinfectant and rags placed in several locations throughout the workout area, few people ever cleaned up after themselves. Shifting Social Media Business Strategy from “What” to “Why” and “How”

Association 20/20

Last week I delivered a presentation in Chicago outlining the generalized steps for developing a social media business strategy to a wonderfully engaged audience of around 80. In connecting one-on-one with a number of those in attendance prior to the start of the session, my perspective is further reinforced that most organizations are generally trapped inside the rapid reaction phase of social media strategy, which often fails to take into consideration the true opportunity presented by the so

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) asked 14 thought leaders about the metamorphosis we need to see in meetings and conferences. Recognition Powers High-Performance — If You Do it Right

Speaker: Radhika Samant and Todd Wuestenberg

Employee recognition has often been deemed a "feel-good" initiative, tied closely to rewards. While we understand its importance, we tend to associate recognition with intangible outcomes like engagement and sentiment, rather than direct impacts on retention and high performance. Big Idea: Speaking our Truth
