Member demographics are changing. According to recent Community Brands research , the members who are most engaged today are younger and more diverse. Today, Millennials in the workforce represent the largest segment of the working population and GenZ is the latest demographic of student and early careerist members. ?. 76 percent of members join an association as a student, recent grad or within the first 5 years of employment. ?.
2020 has been one of the most difficult—if not the most difficult—year many associations have ever faced. While there is hope on the horizon in the form of multiple effective COVID-19 vaccines, the coming year will still be a challenging one. Large gatherings and a return to anything resembling a normal conference or trade show is unlikely to return before fall 2021, at the earliest.
It feels a bit overwhelming to be predicting what the new year may hold after powering through such an insane year. Nevertheless, there are a handful of trends we have been watching that give us a closer look into what’s to come in the world of marketing and communications in the coming year.
