Where can educators around the globe find resources, advice, networking, and support when they need it? Initially, we used a blog ( blog.discoveryeducation.com ) as our primary communication tool to share about events and resources with our community members. Members started showing up for the resources, but they stayed for the people.

Working with young professionals’ organizations in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, the Northwest Credit Union Association recently launched its Northwest Young Professionals Network. NWCUA has set up an online community with resources ranging from career training to mentorship opportunities.

Lastly, those interested in starting a new nonprofit should investigate other nonprofits that offer similar services and consider partnering with that organization rather than starting a new nonprofit that competes for limited resources. This is based on my 30+ year of doing something with nonprofits. Great question.
