How does this apply to memberinsights? So often we ask for member’s thoughts, ideas and opinions but never loop around to let them know the outcome. A member giving their opinions is expecting action but that action doesn’t have to be an immediate grand plan to turn the association inside out and upside down.
They are powerful ways to get insights into our members’ world. Recently I took the chat data from a virtual presentation that I gave about new member onboarding programs, analyzed it, and wrote a researchreport out of the insights. What member feedback to keep and what to toss.
This association had a very strong Association Value Trigger Point which is key to life-time member engagement and now that they know what their AVTP is they can fully leverage it. After sharing the report and discussing the results the association’s staff said they felt comfortable with more than half the insights from the research.
This understanding and excitement are, in turn, significantly diluted by the note-taking and the dreaded report-out activities. Sadly, that is a lot of useful insight lost forever. During breakout groups, great ideas bubble up, and the group creates understanding and excitement around the best ideas.
