When students asked for help with these concepts, I was able to point them to those videos first. Eventually, my love of eLearning brought me to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as the organization’s first Director of Instructional Technology.

I could have simply baked black drum fillets with salt, lemon, and a little butter, but I couldn’t help myself and had to add the red New Mexico chile powder I just bought. This series of 15- to 20-minute videos covers hot topics and issues related to 501c organization management. New episodes are posted around 1 p.m.

We produce and distribute template resources like infographics, videos, PSAs, fact sheets and press releases that members can customize and use as their own. We focus on members’ needs and priorities and try to help them be successful. For example, one goal is to help members raise awareness of public power in their communities.

To preserve that collective legacy, ASRT has added to its headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a 4,500-square-foot museum. The highly interactive multimedia space includes a mix of touch tables, video screens, and hands-on exhibits. The one catch: It’s not open to the public. Click to enlarge.

James Boyd’s death exposed a gap in New Mexico law, critics say. Most states have a variation of New York’s 1999 “Kendra’s Law.” Albuquerque’s version of the law was struck down in 2008 by the New Mexico Court of Appeals, but the recent shooting has led to new calls for a state law.
