Here in Indianapolis last year, we celebrated failure with an entire day devoted to the topic: Fail Fest. As the desire to innovate has taken hold in institutions of all forms (education, government, nonprofit, and corporate), the admonishment that "It''s OK to fail" has increased in both volume and frequency.
In just a few years, many businesses have gone from viewing social media as a distraction to an essential tool for learning and communication. While most organizers, attendees, and CVBs know to use hashtags on social media to promote a conference and foster online discussion, some groups are employing hashtags in innovative ways.
Based on my consulting experience, most associations prefer to innovate in baby steps. There are sites dedicated to IT, communications, design and a myriad of other skills. Geography— Can’t find a 3D designer in Indianapolis, try Ireland or India. At the current growth rate the majority of U.S. employees sleep.
It should also be noted that the list reflects my interests: associations, events, travel, tech, government, education, social media, communications, marketing, public relations, and jobs.
