It’s why every ASAE Annual or MM&C has session after session around surveying and asking and getting feedback from members. A recent Association Trends/Community Brands joint survey result showed just this, that the pros running the organization and the people they’re working for, look at the association in different ways.
We all survey, actually probably over-survey, our members about EVERYTHING. And 90+% of the time, it will be empty when your survey is submitted. Third, secret shop, or better yet, ask trusted members to do so for you and report back. Fourth, ask your members. And isn’t that why you exist in the first place?
Actions Speak Loudest… I have talked with many membership professionals who have all but eliminated surveys from their efforts to track member sentiment. People who answer the surveys are merely the people who like taking surveys, or else have some kind of axe to grind. Their reasoning? But doing it correctly is important.
